Portfolio 2019: The Best of 2018
“Portfolio 2019: the Best of 2018” is coming. The art has to have been made in 2018, but, because it’s an on-line “best of” show, there are NO size restrictions; there’s no theme it has to fit; it can be 3D or wearable; it can have been in a previous FRCQ show; and you don’t have to have possession of it. You will need a great photo since it’s going on-line, and to enter you will have to have your FRCQ membership renewed for 2019. Entry fee is $35 for up to three entries. The call will be open for entry November 15 to December 31, 2018.
The juror for Portfolio 2019 will be Louise Allrich, a fine art appraiser and advisor in the San Francisco Bay area. From 1971 to 1995, she owned an internationally-known fine art gallery located in Union Square in San Francisco, where she launched the careers of more than one textile artist. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Design from the University of California, Davis. Most recently, she juried the Excellence in Fiber exhibition that opens at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. Louise will also be the speaker at the Juried Artist Member meeting during the April 2019 Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) Conference in San Jose, CA. She’ll share her perspective as a juror and gallerist about what makes art successful and thus salable. Entries and artists’ statements for this exhibit (identified by artist number not name) may be shown and discussed during her talk.
