Complements to the Chef

Food is grown, harvested, transported, purchased, prepared, cooked, served, and eaten. FRCQ artists are invited to explore any of these delicious stages. For example: a backyard herb garden, a baby’s face after eating blueberries, a field of corn, a stunning supermarket display, a fancy restaurant setting, a family meal, a simple cup of tea …..

For this show we are also encouraging use of complementary colors, overtly or subtly. The interactions of complementary colors can offer another layer of expression to the already rich and diverse narratives of food and people. If you can use complementary color, great, if not, you can still enter your food related artwork anyway.

2-D artwork of any age is eligible for this show. Submissions should be 15-34 inches wide and 15 – 50 inches long.

Enter August 10 – 17, 2022, there is no entry fee.

  • Write a short description of the materials and techniques used in your piece. (This is NOT an artist statement)
  • Send one full and one detail image of each piece entered. Label full image with title, dimensions. Label detail image with title, detail.
  • Size images 72 dpi and 2100 pixels on the long side.
  • You may enter three works of art.
  • Send description and images to joansowada@gmail.com with FRCQ entry in the subject line.
