About the workshop:
This is a class for fun and experimentation. We will learn how to play with tools to create pattern on fabric that will be one of a kind. Techniques we will explore are monoprinting, stamping and stenciling, and thermofax screen printing.
My goal is to create opportunities to allow what is inside of me to come out. My style of working is to gather materials and start playing with them to see what they want to be. Way back when, I first tried coming up with an idea, sketching it and then making the materials imitate the sketch. It was quite frustrating until I eventually got it that I was working backwards, that there was this energy inside of me that wanted to do its own thing and I needed to get out of the way. I have learned to trust that inner voice, to listen and learn from it.
Paints: Basic Paint (Michaels) has a great consistency for printmaking. Golden and Liquitex paint(Guirys) work as well but are a bit more expensive. Bring what you have (primaries plus black and white, or your favorite colors ready to go).
GAC 900 (Guirys) is a medium that softens the hand of the paints when added in as you work.
Fabrics: Bring scraps (9x9 inches), nothing bigger than fat quarters, as smaller sizes are easier to work with. Colored fabric is goo since you already have a head start to coloring your fabric.
Tools: Scissors, paper plates (3), foam brushes 1” & 2”, sponge roller or small make up sponges, brayer, container for water, xacto knife and small cutting mat, pencil, paper towels, large garbage bag (to cover table)

Workshop Dates/Times: Saturday, October 5, 2019, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Cost: $125.00 per person
