Art Talk: Jean Herman
Please join Jean for this Art Talk which will cover “Composition”. Jean is a wonderful teacher with an excellent eye for the principles of composition.
Jean Herman is a past president of FRCQ. She is primarily a fiber artist using fabric, stitching, paint and other techniques to create art quilts that often read as paintings. She likes to say, “I paint with fabric.” Jean also uses various print making techniques incorporating them into her fiber pieces. Her quilts can resemble collages, incorporating paper, photo transfers, and monoprints to create a visual image.
Jean’s art reflects her intriguing past; she was trained as a scientist and went on to a business career and was CEO at the Denver/Boulder BBB. Her MBA training and focus on business success makes her serious about her art.
Jean’s art begins with a vision and ends in a story. Viewed through her eyes, events, people, places and things take on a new perspective. Jean captures those moments through the use of fabric, texture, stitching, patterns and color: binding them together to create a unique and individual story.
Jean’s goal is to evoke an emotional response from people as they view her art. Jean feels successful when the portrayal of the story within the art can be felt by the viewer.
